Dear Teachers and Model United Nations Advisors,
It is our pleasure to invite you to the eighth annual Global Classrooms: BERMUN2 Conference, which takes place from February 28 until March 2, 2013. The Global Classrooms: BERMUN2 conference is primarily a regional Model United Nations conference providing students with the opportunity to simulate the work of the United Nations. Through this simulation, students gain insight into international politics and the work of the United Nations, polish their rhetorical and communicative skills, and work together with other students to find practical solutions to global problems. By preparing the topics and conversing in English, language and research competencies are practiced and refined.
BERMUN2 is conducted in close cooperation with Global Classrooms, an innovative educational program initiated by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA). Global Classrooms sees its mission in bringing the benefits of international education and Model UN to public school students, diversifying the Model UN community and promoting current affairs education. Global Classrooms and the John F. Kennedy School are grateful to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for providing the venue and logistical support for the 2013 conference.
This year the General Assembly will deliberate on the question of Democratic Governance. The Security Council will address the Situation in Israel and Palestine. The newly created Historical Security Council will review the Situation in Somalia (1993).
We are convinced that these topics at the BERMUN2 conference will serve as the basis for challenging research, exciting lobbying and stimulating debate for all paremticipants.
